Baltimore: The city even had an elevated light rail system in its downtown, over Guilford Avenue, with 3 stations. in 1949, a PCC streetcar leaves the Pleasant St. elevated station. in later years, the elevated structure was dismantled as the electric railway system was scrapped and converted to bus operation on public streets, competing with automobiles for increasingly scarce roadway space.
